When creating your playlist for your wedding, I always recommend that you keep your guest in mind. Chances are that there will be 3 generations in attendance. Your playlist should feel inviting to them. Guest tend to react to songs that they are familiar with. To help them feel a part of your celebration, include songs from there era that are popular enough that the younger generation know. An experience DJ should know how to put together your personal favorite along with songs that will motivate your guest. Perhaps you can ask your Grandparents what their favorite songs are. Maybe do a dedication to them. It only takes a few songs to make you more mature guest feel included. I have seen a trend where couples will include a song request form when sending out invitations. This will help your DJ when putting together sets for your reception. Your playlist is the soundtrack for your wedding. Don’t be scared to include your favorite song that may not be popular dance songs. Those songs are perfect for the cocktail hour or to be played during dinner. Remember it is your day and your music should reflect your personalities.
